About the property...

Warm woods, earthy colours and sumptuous seating make Chalet La Cachette a very comfortable and relaxing base for up to 10 guests in five double bedrooms.

Three of these bedrooms, which can be arranged with large double beds or two single beds, can be found on the lower ground floor. These stylish bedrooms each have doors to the terrace, where you'll also find the hot tub. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, while the other two share a bathroom with a separate shower and bath, and well as a separate WC.

There are two more bedrooms on the first floor – these double rooms each have en-suite shower rooms and their own balconies, with wonderful views over Châtel to the mountains beyond. All of the bedrooms are beautifully designed, each with different accent colours from a muted, earthy palette that runs throughout the house.

As Chalet La Cachette is built into the mountainside, this floor also has access to the double garage and the ski room.

The ground floor is largely devoted to a wonderful, open-plan living area. The sleek, contemporary kitchen has everything you need to cook up a delicious meal and a breakfast bar where you can grab a quick snack. There's a large dining table where everyone can eat together, and a comfortable seating area where you can get together to chat or watch TV after dinner. And you won't need to argue about what to watch – the property also has a separate TV room with more sumptuous seating! There's also a sauna and a laundry room.

This floor is flooded with light, thanks to the huge windows and glass doors which open onto the sunny terrace, which has dining areas as well as areas for just sitting and soaking up the views.

About the area...

Chalet La Cachette is in a quiet residential location just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Châtel, a popular mountain resort in the Portes du Soleil ski domain. The shuttle bus stops just outside the property and the nearest ski lift is just 750m away.

The Super-Châtel/Barbossine and Linga/Pré la Joux/Plaine Dranse sectors that surround the village have 41 ski lifts and 45 slopes, providing plenty of scope for all ages and abilities.

Châtel is still a traditional farming village, retaining its Savoyard architecture and character. But the growth in ski tourism means it now boasts some wonderful restaurants, both on and off the slopes. There's also a great aquatic centre with spa facilities, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, and a popular indoor play centre for younger children.

In the summer, there is a huge choice of trails for hikers and bikers. Road cyclists can challenge themselves on the Deux Cols route or the Tour Mont de Grange, and MTB riders will appreciate the nearby bike park, which offers 20 downhill routes of various levels and two slope styles.

Guests with a taste for adventure can try the Fantasticable – a zipwire which will have you hurtling between the mountains at up to 100kph.

There are plenty of places to explore around Châtel too – the picturesque medieval village of Yvoire, on the banks of Lake Geneva, is just an hour away, and the beautiful Château de Chillon, near Montreux, is even closer.

Châtel is easily accessible from Geneva airport, either by car (about 90 minutes), train or bus. Or you could arrive in style by booking a helicopter transfer!
